The mighty Manta Tree grows only in the heart of the continent of Ooloo in the Hooklock mountains. These magnificent giant trees reach up to the Mothers filling the sky with their branches while long vines droop down to find the ground and root new trees. It is not their rarity and grandeur that makes these trees so valuable – it is their sap.

Manta sap, you see, once dried in the sun for one or two moons becomes hard as rock and will burn, once ignited, with such intensity for days on end before burning out, making it a most valuable resource indeed. So valuable that great wars, now referred to as the Sap Wars, raged through Mernac in the 2600s to control this precious and limited resource.
