Ooloo is the Northernmost landmass in Mernac just above the Tian Islands. Ooloo is sparsely populated and is full of dense green pine forests and peppered with thousands of lakes and streams. Ooloo is known as an island continent which is the birthplace of the Race of Furs. It gets its name from the lion Hooloo who, according to mythology raised the first litter of Furs.

The center of this island continent contains two of the highest mountain ranges in Mernac the Ooloo Mountains and to the northeast the Hooklock Mountains. Ooloo is surrounded by turbulent seas and remains highly accessible, * even today.

Being so northerly, Ooloo typically has long winters and the northernmost tip of the continent is frozen tundra called, the Borzen Wastelands. There is little known about this part of Ooloo except that it bears the same name of a powerful ancient wizard, Borzen Ritu, and that any of those with magical ability can feel a powerful surge of magical energy any time they come within 10 leagues of the Borzen Wastelands. This surge in magical power increases the further north one travels.

Ooloo is also the home of many exotic and sometimes magical flora and fauna, much of which can be found nowhere else in Mernac. Healers and magical practitioners from the far reaches of Mernac come to Ooloo for highly sought-after ingredients. Of these some of the most notable are: the fangs, claws, and heart of the giant Mud Tumbas; the Tiko plant, which is euphoric when ingested or smoked; and the Creeping Manta Trees with their ever-burning sap.

It is the dried sap from the Manta trees that has caused hardship and sometimes war to come to Ooloo. This Sap, when dried, becomes rock hard and will burn with intense heat for 2-3 days if ignited. This is the mostly highly sought-after fuel in Mernac and was the cause of the “The Sap Wars” in the mid-2600s and several other skirmishes throughout history.

Native to Ooloo are the Elf, Faerie, and Fur races and it has been said by many wise teachers that these races may have been the first of all to be created by the Gods and that their creation happened on Ooloo. Some Races from the Dark also live in Ooloo, including Dark Elves, Dark Fae’s, Azemen, and the Undead from several underground cities.

Few Humans lived in Ooloo until the mid-2600s as they had been expelled from the island in the early 200s by Hooloo the lion for being unpredictable and violent, as is documented in the fable, ‘Golden Siberlee and the Seven,’ and other works written by Onus Brushstroke.
